BHS students founded the EBAYC-RISE program in 1976. It came out of the dream of BHS students that wanted help to address the educational inequities. In 1998 EBAYC-RISE had six counselors and served more than 300 students. Oakland, Richmond and Sacramento have been requesting our programs. EBAYC moved to Oakland in 1999, due to Oakland’ strong desire for a partnership. RISE stayed behind in Berkeley at all three middle schools and BHS.
R.I.S.E. separated from EBAYC and became its own 501©3 agency in 2013, and operates under Executive Director Adriana Betti.
